Allegations of drug dealing led Lawton detectives to a home containing methamphetamine, an illegal gun and ammunition, which in turn led to charges for a Comanche County man.
Keefer Wetzell, 30, of Lawton, made his initial appearance Wednesday in Comanche County District Court where he received felony charges of maintaining a place for keeping/selling drugs, possession of meth with intent to distribute, using a phone to sell drugs and committing a felony with a firearm with a defaced identification number, as well as a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, records indicate.
Detectives from the Lawton Police Department Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant Monday at 1803 SW 7th. Detective Christopher Adamson stated a pistol with loaded magazine was found in a chair in Wetzell’s bedroom and its serial number appeared to be filed off.
After telling Wetzell that investigators received “numerous tips” about drugs being sold from the home, he said he didn’t have much left but sent investigators to find a pill container with 3.05 grams of meth inside, the probable cause affidavit states. Wetzell said he buys an ounce of meth at a time and sells it for around $20 per sale, Adamson stated. A large stack of plastic baggies were found in Wetzell’s room as well as several pipes used for smoking meth, a set of digital scales and ammunition for the pistol, investigators said. Two cellphones also were taken from Wetzell’s bedroom.
Held on $25,000 bond, Wetzell returns to court at 3 p.m. April 1 for his preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
