MacArthur girls will be counting on strong support from their fans as they open the playoffs by hosting a four-team Class 5A girls regional beginning today.
The Mac girls, 16-5 on the season, will tangle with Crossings Christian at 6 p.m. in the first game of the local regional.
The other game in the Mac girls regional matches Shawnee and Santa Fe South at 7:30 p.m.
Otis Gentry’s Mac girls continue to make life miserable for opponents with their pressure defense that is geared to not only force turnovers but disrupt opponent’s offensive schemes.
Much of the attack is built around mobile Alysa Mack who can play a variety of positions both in the paint and on the wings. She is also a big part of the Mac press that has been a key ingredient in the past few years under Coach Otis Gentry.
Crossings Christian comes in with a 7-15 record, including seven straight losses to end the regular season. Over that span, Crossings Christian was held under 40 points in every game and in four of those losses they were held under 30 points.
LHS girls have drawn a tough assignment and will face PC North at 6 p.m. today at PC North. The other game in that regional matches Norman and Norman North at 7:30 p.m. today, also at PC North.
Eisenhower girls will play against Mustang at 7:30 p.m. today at Yukon High School. The other game in that regional matches Yukon and Deer Creek at 6 p.m.
Elgin girls will head to Midwest City where the Owls will face Noble at 7:30 p.m. today in another Class 5A regional. The other game in that regional matches host Midwest City against Western Heights at 6 p.m.
