MEDICINE PARK — Even though it’s forecast to be around 60 degrees, the chilly waters of Medicine Creek are calling for the wild, weird and wonderful to indulge in the 24th Annual Polar Plunge.
Borne from Parkies indulging at the Park Tavern in beer and late-night bravado so many years ago, the annual plunge has grown into a townwide all-ages event filled with music, food and fun for those jumping in the waters as well as the hundreds, if not thousands, who crowd the water’s edge to watch events unfold.
The event will begin where it began at the Park Tavern with those wishing to indulge in some “liquid courage” starting at 10 a.m. Line-up for the parade through Cobblestone Row to Bath Lake Island begins at 1:45 p.m. at the Tavern with the first wave of plungers taking the leap at 2 p.m. sharp.
Costumes, weirdness and positive vibes strongly encouraged.
Festivities will continue throughout town for the rest of the day and into the evening.
